I Can't Wait for GTA 6

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — Rockstar Games, August 27, 2026

November 19, 2026. The date is finally locked in, and I have to admit: it's been a long time since I looked forward to a game this much.

My relationship with the GTA series goes way back. I spent so much time in San Andreas that I memorized the map, and I finished GTA V the year it came out, then started it all over again years later. For me, this series was never a "finish the story, shut it down" kind of game — it was a place where just wandering around was fun in itself.

Now it's Leonida's turn.

First, the trailer

The video that best captures Leonida's vibe is Rockstar's second trailer. If you haven't seen it yet, start here:

Then, the 27-minute extended look

On August 27, Rockstar released Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look, first on Netflix and a few hours later on its own YouTube channel. It's about 27 minutes long, all captured in-game on PlayStation 5.

This isn't your usual trailer. We follow Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos through a few jobs — a delivery, a bank robbery, a bodyguard mission — with free-roam snippets from Vice City and Leonida sprinkled in between.

And for the first time we get to see the systems: how the driving feels, the combat, how the wanted level works, and switching between the two characters. That's what I'm most curious about in any game reveal anyway — not how pretty it looks, but how it plays.

What really hooked me were the details

The graphics are impressive, no argument there. But the things I jotted down while watching the extended look a second time were mostly the little details: how crowded the streets are, characters in the background going about their own business, no two places looking alike.

That's what Rockstar has always done well. Not so much making the map bigger as turning it into a place that feels alive. Giving you the sense, as you wander around, that "this is a real place."

The extended look gave me that feeling. It raised my expectations — which is a pretty bold thing to say about a game people have been waiting on for this long.

Waiting for November

It had honestly been ages since I got this excited about a date. The game comes out on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

We've got a few months to go. In the meantime, I'm planning to wrap up the half-finished games on my plate — because the day GTA 6 comes out, nothing else is probably getting launched.

Are you waiting for it too? If you've watched the extended look, what impressed you the most? Let's talk in the comments.
