100k Stars on GitHub in One Day: The Claude Code Leak and the "Claw Code" Revolution
The 512,000-line Claude Code source code that Anthropic leaked by its own hand shook the software world and turned into an open-source revolution like few others. We look at "Claw Code", which a Korean developer created by completely rewriting the project from scratch in Rust and Python in just one day, and the incredible 100k-star record it broke on GitHub.

One of the craziest events the software world has seen in recent years played out over just a few days. The source code of Claude Code, Anthropic's eagerly awaited AI CLI tool (roughly 512,000 lines), was accidentally leaked onto the internet by its own team. But the truly epic story wasn't the leak itself; it was the open-source revolution that followed.
An Open-Source Victory in a Single Day: Meet Claw Code
Right after the leak, the open-source community didn't sit idle. A Korean developer rolled up their sleeves, analyzed this massive leaked codebase, and rewrote the project from top to bottom, first in Python and then in Rust with a focus on performance and security. And this tremendous engineering effort took just 1 day!
The brand-new, independent and fully open-source CLI tool that came out of it was named Claw Code.
The 100K Record That Made GitHub History
As soon as Claw Code was published on GitHub, it hit the software world like a bombshell. Developers showed so much interest that the repo earned the title of the first project on GitHub to reach 100,000 stars in the shortest time, setting a record that will be hard to break. The agility and power of the open-source community were proven once again.
Why Should You Use Claw Code?
Claw Code takes the core agentic AI capabilities of the original leaked project and offers them not behind closed doors, but through a transparent codebase:
- Fully Open Source: You can see what the code does and fork it to fit your own needs.
- The Power of Rust: Because the project was rewritten from scratch in Rust, the tool is incredibly fast in the terminal and light on memory.
- Independence: Without running into corporate restrictions, you can write code, edit files and manage your GitHub workflows with AI, right from your terminal.

Speaking as Kendine Coder, seeing the open-source community respond this quickly and this powerfully to the closed ecosystems of corporate giants is truly inspiring. Soon I'll be trying Claw Code in my own projects and publishing another detailed review on the performance of this new Rust-based tool.
So what do you think about this leak and the unstoppable power of open source? See you in the comments. Happy coding!
